Over 85 Years of experience as electrical contractors since 1935 and a dedicated team of over 35 engineers, and a 100+ person strong team with all our partners. No job is too big, too small or too complex.
Owen & Palmer began trading from a small shop on Bangor High Street in 1935 (Our telephone number was 203!) and became a limited company in 1973. Our business has continued to develop and grow and we made the move to a unit on Llandygai Industrial Estate in 1987, just around the corner.
We currently employ over 35 full time members of staff, eight of whom are office based in managerial, clerical, estimating and technical positions. Our remaining team are out in the field working as foremen, supervisors, approved electricians, electricians and labourers. To support the next generation, we also enjoy hosting a number of apprentices at various stages of their training.
Our perfect location enables us to easily serve clients within the Counties of Anglesey, Conwy and Gwynedd, and we are willing and able to work further afield when the project requires.
As an additional benefit to our normal services, we can offer a 24hr emergency call out facility to larger contracts for complete peace of mind.

Our management systems are independently verified through our ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Accreditation.
One of the many contributory factors of our success has been our staff loyalty and their friendly, competent, and polite manner they present to our clients. We have a continuing policy of improvement and enable constant training and development of skills and appropriate health & safety knowledge throughout everyone’s career with us. After that, our policies extends through to supporting and training apprentices, with close collaboration with their local college supervisors. For instance, we up-skill our engineers with training modules such as:
- Asbestos Awareness (UKATA)
- The Prefabricated Access Suppliers’ and Manufacturers’ Association (PASMA)
- Mobile Elevated Work Platforms (MEWPs)
- First Aid
- Manual Handling
- ECA Supervisory & Management Courses
- Institution of Occupational Safety & Health (IOSH)
- Electrical Installation Higher National Certification (HNC)
Managers, Supervisors and Electricians all hold a Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card. This enables all of us to prove our identity, our qualified status and occupation when working on-site. Our engineers also undertake the ECS Health & Safety Assessment which enables them to prove their health and safety competency.
Sustainability
As local Welsh Electrical Contractors, established in the 1930’s, sustainability is central to our business. This allows us to grow, to be of benefit to our community and to support and understand our impact. Through our ISO14001:2015 Environmental Management accreditation, we fully comprehend that the environmental activities of our business are just one pillar of full sustainability.
Firstly, we recognise the Welsh Government Policies in place which support and provide a roadmap for the future. We work within our Business Management Systems to achieve the aims set out in the Wellbeing of Future Generations (Wales) Act 2015 and act accordingly. We take the view that we are part of the future, and we must do as much as we can to protect that future for the generations to come. We recognise this, alongside the Waste Strategy 2010 and the Environment Wales Act 2016.
Secondly, Owen & Palmer recognise that our clients are committed to their own Sustainability Strategies which involves many diverse stakeholders. Continually, we support our clients wholeheartedly. Furthermore we support them in achieving our clients goals with the projects we do for them, where we seek jointly set new targets to grow.
